To emotionally and mentally uplift at-risk teens by providing life-changing support, trauma-informed mentorship, creative arts, and a network of caring adults. We aim to help teens rediscover their self-worth, reframe their mindset, and turn pain into purpose.
Changing the course of troubled teens by creating a safe space where they can heal, grow, and thrive, to become positive future role models and leaders. We will also provide the opportunity to receive spiritual, physical, and mental restoration, by allowing them to expand their minds with positive coping methods and strategies.
Helping Our Troubled Teens (HOTT INC.) is a spiritually based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uplifts both troubled teens — facing emotional and psychological struggles — and at-risk teens affected by trauma, poverty, addiction, abuse, or unsafe environments.
We stand beside survivors of sex trafficking, human trafficking, and emotional neglect. Through mentorship, creative expression, spiritual guidance, and life coaching, we help teens rediscover their identity, purpose, and power.
We are here to help them turn pain into purpose, prosperity, and power — while guiding them toward their true identity and self-worth.
Raw. Real. Youth-Led.
This campaign gives teens the mic to speak on what others are scared to face:
Teen suicide
Self-harming
Sex trafficking & human trafficking
Dating & domestic violence
Bullying, identity loss, trauma
Addiction, peer pressure, and running away
Reels created by teens, for teens
Skits showing real hotline numbers
Animated tutorials that break things down with clarity and heart
We don’t just talk about it —
we help teens change the ending.
We meet youth when they’re most awake and alone — at night — so they can laugh, cry, or just listen without judgment.
Mercedes Meroney, Founder of Helping Our Troubled Teens, born in 1959, has a Afro-American, Caribbean and European background. Her father was an American soldier in the Air Force, who met their mother in London, England. After her mother got pregnant, she was brought to America by her father, who then married her, but ended up becoming a raging alcoholic. Mercedes resided with her mother in her younger years, but she struggled with emotional, mental, and behavioral issues. As a teenager, she experienced suicidal ideations, and unwanted feelings of being misunderstood, insecure, lonely, and not being able to witness her own true beauty. This stemmed from not receiving approval from the people she mainly looked up to. While her mother was pursuing the American dream and providing for the family, she often trusted local babysitters and family members to care for her daughter, believing that they were trustworthy. Unfortunately, Mercedes was exposed to things that a child should not experience, including being sexually violated, and experimented on by her teenage brother, and babysitters. These experiences sparked her motivation to help, and support troubled teens that are suffering from things that causes them to suffer in silence.
